Ed Sheeran Lights Up Madrid with Colors

Last Friday night, May 30th, British singer Ed Sheeran transformed Madrid into a kaleidoscope of music and emotion, performing for a crowd of 70,000 fans at the Atlético de Madrid stadium. As part of his Mathematics Tour, the first of two sold-out shows became a real celebration, complete with a lighthearted fall. Just before launching into “Castle on the Hill,” while rounding the circular stage and encouraging the crowd to clap along, Sheeran suddenly stumbled. But in true Ed style, he quickly bounced back, flashing a grin and carrying on with his signature brightness.

The evening opened with Ed stepping onto a unique round, rotating stage, surrounded by towering screens bursting with creative visuals, an immersive setup that echoed his evolving artistry. Dressed in a black T-shirt boldly emblazoned with “Madrid,” his warmth and charm instantly won over the crowd.

From the first second, the atmosphere was electric. Sheeran’s set blended beloved hits with a sneak peek of his upcoming album Play, set up to be released this September. As the sun get went down below the horizon, his performance seemed to paint the sky, turning Madrid’s golden hour into a live, cinematic memory.

The true highlight? It was Sheeran’s heartfelt connection with his fans. Declaring his love for the city, he ended the night by proudly slipping into an Atlético de Madrid jersey, sealing his bond with the audience.

With two shows in Madrid summing 140,000 fans, Sheeran didn’t just break records, he broke barriers, turning each moment into a shared experience. His 2025 European tour will take him to 13 countries this summer, mixing timeless anthems with brand-new tracks that hint at a bold, colorful future.

Ed Sheeran didn’t just perform. He turned Madrid, already full of life, into a celebration of sound, soul, and everything completely Ed.
